Justice Dept. searches, shutters Imperial Holdings

(AP) ? Imperial Holdings LLC is shut down and trading in its stock halted following an FBI raid of its Boca Raton, Fla., office.

The FBI searched and closed the office at around 1 p.m.EDT, the Palm Beach Post reported.

An FBI spokesman in Miami said agents were acting on a search warrant issued by the U.S. Attorney's office in New Hampshire. The New Hampshire office did not immediately respond to inquiries on the case.

Trading was halted in the New York Stock Exchange-listed stock at about 1:45 p.m.

The company, which specializes in originating loans backed by life insurance policies, went public in February. Shares initially sold at $10.75, and have fallen steadily since. The stock was down 20 cents, or 3.1 percent, at $6.30 when it was halted.

5 Ways to Celebrate a Beautiful Anniversary | Neuroscience and ...

A union between a man and a woman is special, a relationship like no other.

Its initial stages have been compared, in studies, to the most potent of addictive drugs, dumping a mixture of hormones in the bloodstream that can drive otherwise ?normal? people to do crazy things.

The anniversary of your relationship, with each passing year, deserves a beautiful celebration. Of course, there are the traditional flowers, dinner, candlelight, reciting or renewing your wedding vows, or exciting getaways.

To connect to the heart of what brings meaning, consider adding one or more of the following five ways to celebrate, alongside your favorites:

1.?Bring to mind the first steps ??

? of your life together. Life consists of a series of milestones. There are fresh starts around every corner. Ponder the firsts. The first meeting. When you first ?knew? your partner was ?the one.? Putting together a home. Becoming parents. Replay these memories.

2.?Recollect building a life together ?

? and the hurdles you conquered. Every year unfolds a unique mix of ups and downs, fresh revelations, novel challenges, and unique resolutions. Remember the times you stood by each other. How you resolved conflict. Reflect on how your growth, as individuals, strengthened your relationship. Reiterate the stories.

3.?Honor the friendship ??

? at the heart of your relationship. What is unique about friendship? Fun! Life is too serious to take too seriously! Fun protects your relationship from the natural wear and tear of daily living. Life is replete with challenges. They?re there to grow us. Never wait to have fun, however. Find joy and ways to appreciate and enjoy one another. Laugh a lot. Get cuddly. Hold hands. Look into each other?s eyes. Make it a regular.

4.?Ponder the lessons ?

? learned through the years. Relish the gift of what brought you together, as life partners, on this journey called life. Get comfortable with challenges, their customized to optimally grow you. The practice of forgiveness. The choice in how you communicate. The importance of working together as partners. Balancing your giving and receiving. Keep the lessons close to your heart.

5.?Renew your commitment ?

? to one another. A vibrant couple relationship consists of a lifetime of ?I do?s? and not ?I already have?s.? Commitment is choice to nurture the health of your relationship with your self and your partner, especially, in moments when one of both of you seem ?unlovable.?? Be proud of what you have together. No matter how busy life is, make time to assure one another of your commitment to each other?s well being, and to create togetherness moments for a lifetime.

Imagine the possibilities ?

? of what is to come in a future radiant with hope, love and belief in one another and your relationship.

Connecting with your eyes and touch, and affectionately engaging your minds and hearts, are not only romantic. These practices release oxytocin, a hormone known as the ?safety and love? tonic.?Once associated with bonding between mother and child, the release of this hormone inclines you to further connect. In other words, the more you celebrate your love, the more you want to.

Notably, oxytocin also nourishes the cells of the brain and body with health. Another reason to celebrate

In this vast universe, you found one another, and decided to spend the rest of your life together.

Savor what you have on your anniversary and every day of your life together.

Congratulations!

Robbed of phone, Tennessee woman summons help on Facebook (Reuters)

NASHVILLE, Tenn (Reuters) ? Some people have complained about changes in Facebook, but not Rolanda Hill, who used the social media site to seek help after an armed robber broke into her home and stole her cell phone.

Hill, 20, was alone in her Chattanooga, Tennessee, apartment Sunday night when she heard a knock at her door and did not see anyone through the peephole, police said.

"When she went to open the door, a gunman stuck a gun through the door and forced his way in," police spokeswoman Sergeant Jerri Weary said in a statement.

"Once inside, he demanded her money and held her at gunpoint while he took it and the cell phone."

After the robber left, Hill reported the crime to her Facebook friends and asked them to call police. Police responded and on Monday were looking for the robber.

Attempts to reach Hill on Monday for a Facebook status update were unsuccessful.

The U.S. at the U.N.: The foreign-policy version of the S&P downgrade (The Envoy)

President Barack Obama addressed the UN on Sept. 21, 2011. (Jason DeCrow/AP)

When Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, holding aloft his nation's United Nations application bid, finished his rousing speech to the U.N. General Assembly last Friday, only two diplomatic delegations in the world body were left sitting looking glum and dejected amid the thunderous applause and standing ovation: those of the United States and Israel.

For some observers, the bruising week for the United States at the United Nations and the sense of American international isolation on the Palestine statehood bid had the feeling of a decisive turning point--the foreign policy equivalent of the S&P's downgrading of? the federal government's credit rating, after the vicious Congressional fight last month over raising the debt ceiling.

President Barack Obama has never had so many domestic political constraints on his foreign policy leadership.?He is struggling with a protracted economic crisis and an unemployment rate over 9 percent, blocked by the Republican Congress on spending resolutions month by month, and facing criticism of his pro-Israel credentials from Republican presidential candidates, all while serving as president of a nation still involved in two wars, and while simultaneously running in his 2012 presidential reelection campaign,

Obama's notably sober speech last week to the United Nations--where he was once a figure of immense international fascination--amplified the sense that his administration is, if not exhausted, in the middle of a long, hard slog.?"Peace is hard," Obama told the world body. "Progress can be reversed. Prosperity comes slowly. Societies can split apart. ... And we have more work to do."

"In talking to diplomats who participated in the discussions about Israel and Palestine and other issues, I think it is clear that they think the U.S. is in a weakened position when it comes to leadership," said David Rothkopf, a former Clinton administration official and Foreign Policy magazine contributor who has written a book on the U.S. national security council, in an interview Monday with The Envoy.

Rothkopf attributed the perception of diminished American leadership to several issues. "The U.S. is consumed with its own problems," he said, describing the perceptions that various foreign diplomats have relayed to him in recent days. "Obama has entered campaign mode and is not engaging on international issues in as serious a way. There is some division, even dysfunction to the [U.S.] administration's [foreign policy] team."

Finally, Rothkopf said, some of his diplomatic contacts have concluded that Obama himself is "not a leader. ... he's defensive. ... Obama is [perceived to be] boxed in politically at home."

The management of the vexing Israeli-Palestinian peace process--which Washington has led on and off for the past two decades--is a key barometer by which foreign leaders and populations evaluate American effectiveness and strength. And to the detriment of Obama's global leadership, "the peace process is broken," Rothkopf said. "It is not producing results. And the result is that the U.S. is put in the perverse position of defending the status quo--which is the only place it feels it has leverage left--at least in the minds of the administration."

"At the end of the day, the Palestinians have a huge amount of leverage," Rothkopf said. "They are clearly the ones who were playing offense, while everybody else was" playing defense."

Other Obama administration allies in the foreign policy community say that while there's no doubt that American power is retracting due to the economic crisis and other issues, it's a bit overblown to spin the drama at the United Nations last week as a decisive turning point.

"Obama had to go to New York and say, [in effect], 'Look, despite our incredibly dysfunctional politics, we still are a nation the world can't move forward without,'" said Heather Hurlburt, a former Clinton administration official who heads the progressive National Security Network, in an interview Monday with The Envoy. "He gave it his best shot. But until our whole political establishment decides that it matters," it's hard for Obama to expend the political capital on?midwifing?the peace process, she said.

"I think you could argue that the U.S. had two big victories at the U.N.: it got the international community to step up on Libya, and it was able to avert a showdown on Palestine," Jon Alterman, a Middle East expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told The Envoy. "If you asked them a week ago what were your goals [for the UN], they would argue the goals were achieved."

Still, Alterman conceded, "there's no question that our domestic politics affect our foreign policy."

"Partly that has to do with perceptions of the president," he said. "More fundamentaly it has to do with the sense that the United States is a wavering actor in the world. That its financial resources are unclear; military commitments are uncertain. And that its ability to accomplish its goals after both [the wars in] Iraq and Afghanistan is in doubt. But it didn't get that way overnight."

"The reality is that we knew for some time that the U.S. is not able to solve this [Middle East peace] issue by itself," a European official told The Envoy last week, on condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive diplomatic matter. "There are? constraints in the region and it makes it very difficult even for the U.S. president whose first phone call [after his inauguration] was with Abbas to achieve such influence. It is not his fault. The dynamics of the region are very difficult."

However, before any website design work can kick off, there are a few things to consider. Most often than not, having a clear objective on the purpose of creating your website is overlooked. You may want to ask yourself, ?What is the primary objective of setting up the website? Is it to generate leads? Is to to advertise your product or service??
Putting up a website for the first time can be an exciting experience as well as a daunting one. Romo, Hall add subplot to Cowboys vs. Redskins (AP)

ARLINGTON, Texas ? Tony Romo has a message for DeAngelo Hall: He'll be coming after him, too.

Despite a cracked rib that led to a punctured lung last Sunday, Romo seems to have healed enough to start for the Dallas Cowboys when they play host to Hall and the Washington Redskins on Monday night.

The injury is no secret, nor is the notion a foe will try hitting him where it hurts to see just how well his protective vest and painkilling medication really work. Usually, though, that goes without saying. Hall went ahead and said it, declaring, "I want to get a chance to put my helmet on whatever's hurt."

He added: "I'm going to be asking for some corner blitzes."

Tough talk from a guy who has a total of one sack in 103 games, and it wasn't even his own doing. He got a half-sack as a rookie in 2004, and another half in 2008.

Romo actually wouldn't mind seeing No. 23 coming his way.

"If he's blitzing, that means he's not covering," Romo said. "So we'll attack his guy he's covering."

Romo vs. Hall has a long way to go before joining the pantheon of great subplots in the Cowboys-Redskins series, but it's the best going into this game.

The main plot is pretty good, too.

Washington (2-0) and Dallas (1-1) are vying for early supremacy in the NFC East, a status handed to Philadelphia after its offseason spending spree. The Eagles remain a solid threat, but at least one of these teams could put up a fight, too.

The Cowboys' chances are more tenuous, especially because they are so banged up.

Even if Romo plays, he will be without receiver Miles Austin (hamstring) and could be without receiver Dez Bryant (thigh). Running back Felix Jones will play with a shoulder that was dislocated last week, and two of Dallas' inexperienced linemen are trying to play through knee injuries. Seven players who've started games missed at least one practice this week, plus they could be without kickoff specialist David Buehler.

Coach Jason Garrett preaches that injuries are opportunities for others, and former reality TV star Jesse Holley took advantage last Sunday. He replaced Austin in overtime and caught a 77-yard pass to set up the winning field goal. His first career catch came on the drive that tied the game near the end of the fourth quarter. The secondary should get a boost, too, with the return of cornerback Terence Newman. He's been out since early August with a groin problem.

As long as Dallas' injury list is, Romo said the club is somewhat lucky because none of the injuries are long-term. Players had an extra day to heal before playing Washington, this is the first of two straight at home and then there's a bye week.

It all adds up to this game marking an early crossroad.

Beating either the Redskins or the Lions next Sunday would keep Dallas' season afloat. Winning both would really be something. Losing both could leave the Cowboys staring at 1-4 ? they go to New England after the bye ? and would draw all sorts of comparisons to last year's 1-7 start.

"It's a big week for us," tight end Jason Witten said.

Washington is 2-0 for the first time in four years, and enjoying the rare treat of being in first place in the NFC East, even if it is so early. It's still the first big indication that coach Mike Shanahan is spending Dan Snyder's money wisely and perhaps putting together a contender.

Beating the Giants and Cardinals at home doesn't stamp a team for greatness. How they did it is what stands out. They're following the Shanahan blueprint on offense and might be even more improved on defense. History is on their side, too: five of the six previous Washington teams that started 2-0 ended up in the playoffs.

"Guys are a lot more relaxed," said outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, who's become tougher to stop with offenses also trying to slow rookie linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. "Our abilities in everything we're showing up so far from preseason to the first two games has been through the roof. We couldn't ask for anything more. I really feel like guys are playing well, playing hard and playing fast."

Rex Grossman is doing an effective job leading the offense. Running backs Tim Hightower and Roy Helu are loading up on carries and grinding out yards, and tight end Fred Davis is emerging as quite a threat. Santana Moss is someone to watch, too, as many of his best games have come against the Cowboys. In 12 career games against Dallas, he has 73 catches for 1,055 yards and six touchdowns.

The Cowboys have their own series star in DeMarcus Ware. He has nine sacks in 12 games against Washington, and comes in leading the NFL with four sacks this season. He's already led the NFL in sacks twice in the last three years.

Dallas is 0-2 in home openers at Cowboys Stadium. Washington is 0-2 at Jerry Jones' $1.3 billion palace, having lost by a total of four points.

Romo will be playing at home for the first time since another Monday night game ? the one against the Giants last October when he broke a collarbone and was done for the 2010 season. And this time he'll be coming in already brittle.

"We're going to blitz him every down if he's playing, the first 15 plays," Shanahan said, laughing. "No, obviously everybody's got a game plan for everything, but usually if a guy can play he's got a legitimate chance to do what he's capable of doing or else they couldn't have him in there."

Exotic Pet Dangers In Evadale

Does your child have an unusual pet? Many Evadale parents have bypassed cats and dogs for pets that don?t leave hair, urine, or vomit on the carpet. Ease of care, however, is not always a wise trade-off. Evadale parents should be aware of the multiple health and safety risks associated with reptiles, rodents, ferrets, primates, and even fish.

The following list of pets and the possible dangers reads like a script for a horror movie:

Fish: infections that can cause lung disease, skin infections, and leprosy
Hamsters: a virus that causes irreversible nerve damage
Hedgehogs: salmonella, yersinia pseudotuberculosis, rabies, and fungal infections
Iguanas, lizards, snakes: salmonella (the animals themselves can tolerate levels of salmonella far greater than humans)
Monkeys and other primates: herpes B (can cause meningitis in humans), tuberculosis, serious injury
Ferrets: these fierce critters with razor-sharp teeth have maimed many children
Prairie dogs: tuleremia (often fatal infection)
African Gambian rats: monkeypox (smallpox-related disease)

The foregoing information was taken from an excellent U.S. News article which can be found at http://health.usnews.com/health-news/blogs/on-parenting/2008/10/06/8-pets-that-pose-major-health-threats-to-kids

With proper hygiene and safety precautions these pets may not cause problems, but it is important to understand the possible dangers. Consult an expert for comprehensive instructions on caring for any traditional or non-traditional pet.

Sendak still at work at age 83 (AP)

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. ? Maurice Sendak's eyes harden and his off-center smile curls as he considers the idea of writing a memoir.

"I didn't sleep with famous people or movie stars or anything like that. It's a common story: Brooklyn boy grows up and succeeds in his profession, period," he explains in his friendly growl. "I hate memoirs. I hate them. What you have is your private life. Why make it public? And how different is it from anybody else's life? People want to read things like, `Did you have an affair with Oprah Winfrey, really and truly?'"

The world cares about the 83-year-old Sendak, whether he likes it or not. He's a dark soul who has been canonized, a hero who never asked for the job. With a sigh, and a wink, he confides that bookstores still contact him for appearances and children still call out and ask if he's the guy who wrote "Where the Wild Things Are." He even has an "in" at the White House; President Barack Obama read "Where the Wild Things Are" for the 2009 Easter Egg Roll.

Some contents in the unwritten book of Sendak: He loves Herman Melville, Mozart and Scottish author George MacDonald. He detests e-books ("ghastly"), Twitter ("Twatter") and Winfrey (although he wouldn't necessarily say no to an interview). He doesn't bother much with living writers besides Philip Roth, whose naughty "Portnoy's Complaint" he positively adores. "It was so dirty!" Sendak exclaims with the joy of a teenager who snagged a copy of Penthouse.

Wearing jeans and a thin, buttoned shirt, he sits at the breakfast table of his 18th-century farmhouse in the Connecticut countryside, where artists and their fortunes have often settled. He looks out on a wondrous garden of elm and maple trees, and grass a damp green.

Outside, it's a Maurice Sendak kind of day, gray and rainy, but with a stimulating breeze. Indoors is an exhibition of old age (walking sticks, pills for every day of the week) and playtime. On tables, walls, chairs and sofas are carvings and cushions of the real and the created, from Disney characters to the beasts from his books to a statuette of Obama, who has landed on the plus side of Sendak's checklist. A mellow German shepherd, Herman (named for Melville, not Goering, Sendak points out), rests at the author's feet.

Like an actor who keeps prematurely announcing his retirement, Sendak is back in the business that he swears he no longer cares about. "Bumble-Ardy" is the first book in 30 years he has written and illustrated, although the story dates to the 1970s, when he and Jim Henson collaborated on an animated project for "Sesame Street." The title character is an orphaned pig whose parents have gone to the slaughterhouse and whose aunt won't let him have a birthday party ? so he throws one for himself.

"He's my usual kid. He's not very nice, he's disobedient, he's unkosher," Sendak says of Bumble-Ardy. "He's just a kid, and in my books I like children to be as ferocious and inventive and troublesome as they are in real life. We're painting pretty pictures about the world and there are no pretty pictures to paint. I like interesting people and kids are really interesting people, and if you don't paint them in little blue, pink and yellow it's even more interesting."

"You can see a lot of the usual Sendak romp in `Bumble-Ardy,' the mayhem and the threat of family dissolution and the recovery at just the last minute," says Gregory Maguire, whose fourth and final "Wicked" book, "Out of Oz," comes out in November.

"But the recovery is never total. I love how you can see Bumble-Ardy's shifting off the page. He makes a promise to be good, but he's already thinking about the party next year."

Sendak's books are less about the kids he's known ? never had them, he says with relief ? than the kid he used to be. The son of Polish immigrants, he was born in 1928 in a Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn. The family didn't have a lot of money and he didn't have a lot of friends besides his brother and sister. He was an outsider at birth, as Christians nearby would remind him, throwing dirt and rocks as he left Hebrew school. The kidnapping and murder of Charles Lindbergh's baby son terrified him for years.

He does not remember having special talent ? his brother, Jack, was the chosen one. But he loved to dream and to create, like the time he and his brother built a model of the 1939 World's Fair out of clay and wax. At the movies, he surrendered to the magic of "Fantasia," and later escaped into "Pinocchio," a guilty pleasure during blackened times. The Nazi cancer was spreading overseas and the U.S. entered the war. Sendak's brother joined the military, relatives overseas were captured and killed. Storytelling, after the Holocaust, became something more than diversion.

"It forced me to take children to a level that I thought was more honest than most people did," he says. "Because if life is so critical, if Anne Frank could die, if my friend could die, children were as vulnerable as adults, and that gave me a secret purpose to my work, to make them live. Because I wanted to live. I wanted to grow up."

As a young man, Sendak designed window displays for F.A.O. Schwarz and worked as an illustrator for children's books, including the "Little Bear" series by Else Holmelund Minarik. Sendak received first billing with "Where the Wild Things Are," published in 1963, adapted into a movie of the same name in 2009 by Spike Jonze and still a template for countless storytellers.

"It's the perfect picture book," says Brian Selznick, author of the award-winning "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" and a new release, "Wonderstruck," dedicated to Sendak. "It's a story you immediately identify with emotionally. You completely fall in love with the character of Max. You feel like you've been to your own place of where the wild things are. It's something we all imagine we'd like to be able to do."

"I like his somewhat stagy depictions of images on a flat plane. I like the way he stages his books as if the characters are in a pantomime and how he's always tipping his hat to illustrators he's been influenced by," Maguire says. "His stories speak to me. They remind me that books have a long life."

None of Sendak's books are memoirs, but all are personal, if only for their celebrations of disobedience and intimations of fear and death and dislocation, sketched in bold figures or in haunting waves of pen and ink. "It's a Jewish way of getting through life," says playwright Tony Kushner, a close friend. "You acknowledge what is spectacular and beautiful and also you don't close your eyes to the pain and the difficulty."

Revenge helped inspire "Where the Wild Things Are," his timeless tale of a boy's mind in flight in a forest of monsters, who just happen to look like some of Sendak's relatives from childhood. "In the Night Kitchen," released in 1970, was an after-hours dance with a deadly reference to the Holocaust (a boy is nearly placed in an oven) and a naked boy crowing like a rooster, the kind of image that led to calls for the book to be removed from library shelves.

"It was so fatuous, so incredible, that people would get so exercised by a phallus, a normal appendage to a man and to a boy. It was so cheap and vulgar. Despicable," Sendak says. "It's all changed now. We live in a different country altogether. I will not say an improved version. No."

"People say, `This is dark,' and `That is scary,'" Selznick added. "People have said it's inappropriate for children. But, of course, none of that is true. It is appropriate for children, and that unsentimentality and lack of fear is inspiring."

Sendak feels old, but happy, relieved to have escaped youth and all its worries. After the death of his longtime partner, Eugene Glynn, and after triple bypass surgery, he continues to compose daily and is busy with a project about noses, the bigger the better. Mortality is an appointment he is resigned to keeping.

"I want to be alone and work until the day my heads hits the drawing table and I'm dead. Kaput," he says. "Everything is over. Everything that I called living is over. I'm very, very much alone. I don't believe in heaven or hell or any of those things. I feel very much like I want to be with my brother and sister again. They're nowhere. I know they're nowhere and they don't exist, but if nowhere means that's where they are, that's where I want to be."

Oil falls below $80 per barrel on demand concerns

(AP) ? Oil fell for a third straight day on Friday on worries that the global economy is headed for recession and could cut demand for crude.

Economies around the world are at risk of stalling, and that has punished prices of stocks and commodities. U.S. political leaders are in a standoff that could force the government to shut down, a manufacturing survey suggested a slowdown in China, and Europe hasn't solved its banking crisis.

Moody's downgraded eight Greek banks, because of the country's deteriorating economy. The concern is that a Greek default could hurt other nations in Europe and beyond.

When the economy slows, do does demand for oil.

"People are just afraid that demand is going to be affected in a negative way and that's pulling prices back down," said Tom Bentz, an analyst at BNP Paribas Commodity Futures.

After a broad decline the day before, stock markets on Friday wavered between small gains and losses, while many commodities ? including gold ? continued to drop.

A day after it plunged more than 6 percent, Benchmark U.S. oil fell 66 cents to finish at $79.85 per barrel. The price of oil still is almost $5 a barrel more than a year ago. Analysts expect it to stay between $75 and $90 per barrel until there is a better picture of what's ahead for the global economy.

U.S. benchmark oil hit $113.93 a barrel on April 29. But high unemployment in the U.S. ? the world's biggest oil consumer ? and signs of a slowing economy in China ? the second largest oil consumer ? pulled crude down.

Brent crude, which is used to price many kinds of oil produced overseas, fell $1.52 to end at $103.97 per barrel.

In other energy trading, heating oil fell 5.2 cents to finish at $2.8059 per gallon, gasoline futures dropped 1.93 cents to finish at $2.5244 per gallon and natural gas fell less than a cent to end the day at $3.701 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Many Boomers who uncover themselves back in the?forgotten waters of?dating usually wonder if it really is well worth it.? They could possibly assist you remain afloat ? following all, Mr. or Mrs. Ideal can be headed your way.

One on the difficulties with entering the entire world of dating, right after decades away, is that the whole game?has changed, namely as a result of the players have changed.??You are?now an?independent,?well-rounded particular person with a multitude of chapters of existence under?your belt.??What?s a lot more,?so are the people you may be dating.?The wide?eyes of innocence have end up the wise eyes of practical knowledge.??Indeed, they are all tremendously positive important things, nevertheless they do come with a?price tag.

The cost tag?sings a familiar tune,?the -Set in My Ways- blues.? Boomers have lived their existence the way in which they?ve picked for even more than a number of decades.??They?ve their very own means of doing points, saying things, selecting elements, etc.? Boomers have locations they love to go?and?locations they?ve got no intention of likely.???They?ve elements they like to do and issues they?ve no intention of doing.? The good factor is, you are likely to do not ever be during the dark for long, they?ll let you realize proper away!

That?s part of their charm, but it really is also aspect of the situation.? Boomers have to make it easy for by themselves to -back up- and investigate the planet with refreshing eyes and an open mind.? They have to maintain reminding themselves not to be so -set in their ways- they develop into like concrete.? Who wants to date or perhaps know a statue??

We should all produce a point of preserving our minds as adaptable as we hold our bodies.? When we come to feel the require to overly?assert our likes and?dislikes, we should take into account the episode of Andy Griffith when Andy?s date, Lydia, bored him to tears with, -I will not like chit chat?- and facts regarding the sun giving her the herpes.? What a prize!? We all have opinions, but they will want to under no circumstances turn into stipulations. I?ve frequently taught my daughters to become in the search out for your variety of important things they say they do not like.? If you ever identify that you?re quite often telling others the way you you should not wish to do this or that, or you hate this food or that food ? consult all by yourself how quite a bit enjoyment you imagine you will be to become all around.???Rarely let oneself arrive across as?a stick while in the mud or somebody who thinks their way certainly is the only way. ?

To me, this is certainly the main predicament boomers face when dating.? They?ve turned out to be so set within their tactics they usually near down, refusing to permit fresh new hints in.? We need to all be open to other people?s suggestions and means of doing issues.? Have to we ever compromise our principles or core beliefs?? Bite your tongue!? But we also shouldn?t turn people today away by getting overly rigid and -Lydia-like.-

A number of other helpful hints that come to mind are:

  • Gauge how significantly the other human being desires to converse about ex relationships and act accordingly.? If he/she looks to plan to get important things out in the open, go for it.? It?s possible, after everything?s out, there?ll be no will need to look at it ever before again.
  • You love your children, therefore you have to!? But if you talk about them NON Discontinue, it truly is as if you?ve brought them along for your date.? Should you are not careful, you as well as your date will soon be surrounded by ex-lovers, children, pets, in-laws, lawyers, and associates. That?s too crowded to even breath, let alone build a new relationship.
  • Look your very best in any respect instances.? Regardless if you?re running for your Sunday paper, to Starbucks for a latte, or visiting the dentist ? if you?re in dating?s warm waters once more, it is advisable to be ready to dive in any respect occasions.
  • Be well-read.? Make certain you?re capable to converse about far more points than simply your loved ones, work, or (even) episodes of Property.? Ensure to help keep up while using the news and up-to-date events.? Broaden your horizons ? find out new elements, get up new hobbies, play new games, etc.? The greater you?re able to perform, the greater interesting you?ll be.?
  • Take fine care of oneself.? Eat perfect and get lots of of doing exercises, rest, and fresh new air.? Make wellbeing a priority.
  • Most of all ? savor by yourself!? Being a genral rule, when we embrace life, it embraces us back.? And it isn?t going to get any sweeter than that.

8 Tech Tools for Better Business Management OpenLD | OpenLD

Scott Gerber is a serial entrepreneur, internationally syndicated columnist and TV host, and the founder of the Young Entrepreneur Council. He is also an active angel investor and author of the book Never Get a ?Real? Job.

As someone who utilizes tech and software every day to run, communicate and oversee my businesses, I can attest that the right tech tools are worth ten times their cost. The right tools can help business owners cut overhead, automate systems and, most importantly, save time and increase productivity.

But let?s not forget the essential keyword: the right tools.

Finding the best available technology amid app store clutter and backlogged review sites can be a real challenge. Often, to discover one solid product, one must test ten or more in the first place ? a frustrating time drain, to say the least.

Does that mean you should abandon your search? Absolutely not. It does mean that relying on trusted sources and opinions from other business owners in your field is all the more crucial.

I asked a group of successful young entrepreneurs to tell me about their favorite technology products, apps and software of 2011, and how their picks can help entrepreneurs build, operate and grow similar businesses.

1. Manage Network Contacts

I really like Hashable 2.0. The app (iPhone & Android) allows you to forward your contact info, set reminders (which go on your calendar and send you an alert email), take notes and introduce your contacts to each other. It?s a great way to cut back on paper and to help with the trouble so many have with remembering to follow-up.

? Ambassador Bruny, ambassadorbruny.com

2. Track Expenses

I like anything that?s functional and time-saving.

Expensify and apps like it help entrepreneurs stay organized and save time at the end of the month and at tax time.

? Lisa Nicole Bell, Inspired Life Media Group

3. Share Files

Dropbox has been a huge help with our business ? we can easily send files to each other and our customers. Using Dropbox you don?t have to go through a ton of USBs or numerous emails, and [you aren?t] limited to using only one computer to edit a file.

? Ashley Bodi, Business Beware

4. Expedite Payment

One of the biggest challenges of running your own business? Getting paid on time. Enter Square, an awesome and ridiculously easy-to-use application for accepting payments via credit card. We use it religiously. Not only has it expedited receiving payment from clients, the processing fee is lower than PayPal. Download it now and save yourself those ?Where?s my money?? emails.

? Matt Cheuvront, Proof Branding

5. Secure Your Servers

For all of the Internet entrepreneurs out there, website security and keeping 100% up-time for your site is a must. With CodeGuard, you get to automatically backup your servers from any previous point in time. Best of all, it?s inexpensive and well-worth the monthly price.

? Logan Lenz, Endagon

6. Gather Feedback and Information

It actually came out in late 2010, but Quora has been very useful to me to this year. It?s a great way to pull together a wide variety of information, as well as find experts in new fields.

? Thursday Bram, Hyper Modern Consulting

7. Track To-Dos

As a CEO I have a ton of to-dos, and Wunderlist allows me to track all of these from my computer, iPhone or iPad. Their design is clean and fresh, with the best part being that you can organize your to-dos by categories, such as personal, businesses, etc. This is a must-have app for any entrepreneur.

? Derek Johnson, Tatango

8. Manage Social Media

I came across Arkli, which is a social media campaign manager, and I?ve been working closely with creator Mike Potter on its usability. Arkli lets you schedule out your blog posts, tweets, YouTube videos, etc. and share the entire campaign with affiliates, colleagues, joint venture partners, etc. so they can instantly schedule their own social media updates too. One word: AMAZING!

Adding Psychotherapy to Meds Helps Kids With OCD (HealthDay)

TUESDAY, Sept. 20 (HealthDay News) -- Adding cognitive behavioral therapy to medication seems to help children and teens with obsessive-compulsive disorder, new research shows.

The findings, published in the Sept. 21 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, confirm previous research on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

"[If] a child has been taking one of the [medications for OCD] and has a partial response, we can get a much better response when we add on CBT," said Lawrence Newman, a psychologist with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, who was not involved with the study.

Treatment with the class of antidepressants known as serotonin reuptake inhibitors is the mainstay of treatment for OCD, but relief isn't always complete.

"There's plenty of evidence suggesting that medication works," said study author Martin E. Franklin, an associate professor of clinical psychology in psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. "We find that kids in general are getting better, but there are clinically relevant residual symptoms. They're better, but they're still in need of more care."

Franklin and his colleagues tested the efficacy of both conventional CBT and an abbreviated form of CBT, called "instructions in CBT."

This truncated form of therapy, they had hoped, would help ease patients' symptoms.

"We know CBT works. The reality, unfortunately, is that there aren't a lot of practitioners in community settings," Franklin explained.

The study involved 124 kids aged 7 through 17, all of whom had OCD and who were randomized to one of three groups: medication alone; medication plus conventional CBT; or medication plus instructions in CBT.

The abbreviated CBT consisted of seven, 45-minute visits over a 12-week period while the full CBT program was 14 one-hour visits over the same period.

But there was no appreciable difference between the shortened version of CBT plus medication or medication alone, the researchers said.

The only group that saw appreciable benefits were those getting full-length CBT as well as antidepressants.

The findings pose a conundrum for the researchers -- and patients: The full therapy works, but there's not enough of it to go around.

Hopefully, the data will be further impetus to increase the availability of treatment, the authors stated.

"We know this treatment . . . is helpful for most who receive it, whether they get it as an initial treatment or as augmentation to meds, but it's frustrating to be providing families and other treatment providers with encouraging recommendations only to find that these recommendations are not feasible to follow in many communities," Franklin said.

"It's a huge public policy problem, access to good cognitive behavioral therapy for OCD," added Newman.
