First off, drop the ladle into the soup and grab as much as you want. Before you lift the ladle out, dip it back in so the liquid comes halfway up the ladle. The tension on the bottom of the ladle grabs any drips, so when you pull it out you'll be able to transfer it to a bowl without spilling soup all over the counter.
