Sony unveils digital music service app on Xperia smartphones

Sony Ericsson has launched its "Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity" service on the Xperia arc, Xperia Play, Xperia neo, Xperia X10 and Xperia X8 smartphones. The service will also be available for Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro and Xperia pro later this year. "Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity" is available as a downloadable client from Android market and appears as an icon on the screen of the phone. In addition, to provide a user experience, the "Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity", debuting on the Xperia neo, the consumer will be prompted to access the service via a dedicated icon on the phone screen. The cloud-based, digital music service gives music fans streaming access at anytime and anywhere to a catalogue of over seven million licenced songs from labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music as well as independent labels and publishers worldwide. Powering the back-end of the service are Omnifone and Gracenote. Omnifone provided its platform services to develop and deliver the service across a range of device platforms as well as licensed the service with rights holders around the world. "Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity" Android client is available for download for Xperia smartphone users in US, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
